Sometimes someone we love drifts into a place we cannot quite reach. I am interested in what happens to closeness then. How do we stay beside someone and still give them the time to return in their own way?
I’ll Be Here When You’re Ready holds that kind of waiting. Two women remain close, connected by a small gesture of touch, while each inhabits a different emotional space. One turns inward. The other stays near.
For me, the tenderness of the painting is in that quiet presence. Giving someone time, keeping a place for them beside us, and trusting that they will find their way back in their own way.
Part of Drama Looks Good on Us, the work continues my exploration of relationships through the body, especially those moments when posture, touch and physical distance reveal what we feel before the words arrive.
